We understand after a few days on a quiet island, the urge for city lights may be strong. Indulge yourself with Malaysia’s vision city, Kuala Lumpur, where you get a stop over as part of every package. Check out the worlds previously highest towers (now 4th highest), cheap shopping from electronics to clothes and of course great food followed by nightlife till the wee hours of the morning. This city seems to have found the perfect balance between East and West. Another alternative is a stopover in one of South East Asia’s favourite cities, Singapore. The Lion city (Singha in Sanskrit is Lion) is famous for so many things, it’s difficult to choose what’s most important to see. Starting from its multiple award winning airport, to the tree lined avenues leading into the heart of probably the most futuristic city in the world; Singapore is a unique blend of tropical green and glittering skyscrapers. Its Zoo is a tranquil paradise and a heaven for children’s learning with its interactive and free roaming animal’s concept. Not to be outdone in the arena of sport and leisure are also Sentosa Island and the east coast park where you can hire bicycles, inline skates or just take a walk on the beach which stretches for 10kms. Shopping and eating are almost national pastimes, so no one gets better than Singaporeans at malls and restaurants. Still have some energy left? Head out to Mohammed Sultan road with its pub lined avenues and rock till you drop or if a lounge bar is more to your taste, these are scattered all over the city from Orchard road to Buddha Bar ambiance in club street

Singapore and Malaysia have a common history and are still linked in many ways though it’s best represented by its two border bridges making travel from one country to the other a breeze. You have an option of flights, buses or the train and the two cities are a mere four hours drive apart. The bus and train take longer of course but are approximately quarter the price and perfectly comfortable and clean with 1st and 2nd class air conditioned sleeping berths and a chair-car. If you’re not flying, it’s most comfortable and economical to undertake the journey overnight.
